Stop. Look. Breathe. Inhale. Exhale. What do you see?

Tailoring. The epitome of fashion. What established british fashion. The definition of modernist.

Above is the tailored jacket and trousers I have made. Something traditional yet modern. Traditional through technique (The Savile row technique) and fabrication - Venician wools. However some what modern in design with overlays of other materials and the use of real beetle wings. The lining of both garments is an iridescent blue/green colour, matching the beetle wings.

Year 2 tailoring project

As human beings we have a tendency to forget, to devalue, and to take advantage of the things we see on a day to day basis. Through this project I have looked into things which surround us. Things we take for granted.
Its about time we took a moment t0 really understand the world; the life in which we live and the lives which surround us.
"Stop. Look. Breathe.
Inhale. Exhale.
What do you see?"

Eudon Choi SS15 at LFW

Eudon Choi's SS15 collection was feminine yet masculine and used modest colours such as black, white and camel. The collection had a lot going on and was largely tailored.

Take Your Pick!

London Fashion Week was filled with an array of textures, from feathers to pvc, to woven wool, to tassels. They are a key current trend which allow you to enhance your personality as well as change styles. There are so many textures out there today that can be displayed in many ways. So, who are you going to be today? Take your pick.

Stephane Rolland Couture Spring Summer 2014, Paris

Stephane Rolland's latest collection was breath taking. It was delicate, well draped and elegant. The colour scheme was bright and fiery with added neutral colours such as white. This allowed the colours to flow well and work together as a collection.

Chanel Haute Couture, Paris Spring/Summer 2014

I have to admit I'm not usually a fan of household brands such as Chanel, Prada and Dior however I couldn't take my eyes off of Chanel's latest SS14 Couture show. The colour scheme felt quite wintery especially with the embellishments as they were all sparkly and delicate. The music was uplifting and the background was plain and simple. The contrast of the trainers with outfits made the concept fun and playful. The models were happy and slightly child-like. Almost like they were pretending to be giggly 14yr old girls.

Haute Couture fashion week Spring/Summer 2014, Paris

The world of Couture is like a glamorous hollywood movie. Its exclusive, prestigious and elegant. The designs ooze femininity and class with a modern twist.
This years SS 2014 collections however where less extravagant and bold except for the odd key garment. The Couture brand On Aura Tout Vu also did this. Their runway show was not the best. It started off with an amazing soldier-like outfit but then fizzled into more casual wear creating a disinterest in the collection. However they upped their game again towards the end of the show when their neon fabrics shone in the dark.

Brands like Chanel, Viktor and Rolf and Bouchra Jarrar all kept things on a low note with more casual wear.

A Little Film I Made

Identity is something special. Something unique. It is you. Your character. Your looks. Your experiences.
The clothing i made in this short film was based on my identity and after doing various types of research my work concluded to this.

Accessories

Accessories are no longer your simple necklace, bracelets and rings. They are bold and full of a lot of character. I created this accessory / body piece to be abstract and confident. The piece has sharp edges making it seem harsh but also has embroidery making it more delicate and fragile.

Ministry Of Sound (Freshers)

Sometimes knowing what to wear to certain places can be difficult, especially when there are no dress codes shown until late notice. If you don't know what to wear go for something which can fit in anywhere. Something casual with a hint of glamour.

Digital Print designs, Illustration

I created these prints from editing family photos to create pattern blocks and there are two collections. One of which has a more fluid, blurry look and another with more structured prints. I decided to create illustrations for the prints as I felt that using real people made them look to edited and finished (shown in previous post).

Digital Print, Based On My Family History

Digital prints can transform any fabric; with the right fabric, print and shape you can create things beyond your imagination. I have created these prints from photos related to my family history and put them on garments I think help to show them.

Red, Black and White

This seasons colours of red, black and white are strong, bold and confident. The only issue is finding garments in other colours. A lot of people don't like to stick with the same colours through one season or dressing the same as everyone else, and finding something different is proving to be fairly difficult right now. One of the best alternatives to high street stores are thrift shops. Not only do thrift shops cater for all budgets and offer great bargains but they are also high on trend with out sticking to this coming seasons colours.
